Itinerary
tarichkov Island is a natural monument</strong> island located outside of Avacha Bay, which is the biggest bay in the world. It is 24 km long and 3 km wide (at the mouth), with a maximum depth of 26 m. A lot of birds make their nesting colony on this island, for ex. Tufted Puffins, Ancient Murrelets, Thick-billed Murres etc.
During the trip you will see "Three Brothers" rocky pinnacles. This picturesque stack, or rather kekur, is considered a symbol of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Local lore suggests that these are the three brothers who went to defend the town from a tsunami and turned to stone.
Besides the species mentioned above, you will see many gulls, cormorants, Black-legged kittiwakes, and possibly nesting Steller Sea Eagles. The boat will cruise around the island, giving you a chance to see many birds. Often the boat will motor over near the coast and give visitors a chance to try deep sea fishing. Return to the harbor after 6 hours.
The trip usually starts at 9 a.m. But Navy occasionally closes the narrow entrance/exit to Avacha Bay for their maneuvers, delaying the trip.
